Introduction

Hello, World! I am Jin-Zhou Li, on the road to becoming a scientist.

Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics at Dong Hwa University, I specialize in machine learning, data science, and statistical theory. My favorite area within machine learning is supervised learning, where predictive models are built from data to uncover relationships between objects. What fascinates me most is that this universal predictive approach can be applied in various scenarios, such as forecasting economic trends or diagnosing diseases, allowing the numbers to speak for themselves.

My MBTI is the rare INTJ, often described as the Scientist or Architect. I enjoy using logic to examine different perspectives, and my favorite question is "Why?" I experience the world through thought, gaining insights about my existence through contemplation.

I think, therefore I am. — René Descartes

Scientist

I grew up in a traditional religious family where people worshipped deities without questioning why, believing faith to be the sole truth. I once believed the same. However, every time I expressed doubt, it was seen as questioning the faith. Gradually, I could no longer accept the self-contradictory logic of religious statements, which led me to pursue mathematics and natural sciences.

I am an atheist, believing in science and reason. I seek to uncover the logic behind the workings of this world. For me, the meaning of life lies in the pursuit of knowledge.

Second Brain

I was lost. After experiencing two close encounters with death due to pneumothorax, I began to contemplate the meaning of life. Looking back on my past at that time, I realized I remembered almost nothing—I didn’t know why I was living or what I was striving for. Years passed like this until one day, my professor told me:

I spent too much energy on external things and not enough on myself.

Back then, I was constantly charging forward without ever looking back to see how far I had come. Inspired by Building a Second Brain, I decided that if I was going to focus on myself, I might as well record my life and preserve these important memories.

In my first year of graduate school (2023), I started building a website to share my reflections, document my passions and learnings, and review the moments of my growth. This became the purpose of creating the website.

STARSET

My favorite band is STARSET. Their music blends electronic, metal, and rock, with themes revolving around space and science fiction. Their work reflects on technology, imagines the future, and offers poignant critiques of society.

My favorite song is DEVOLUTION. It powerfully portrays the idea of “surviving in a world of survival of the fittest, only to regress due to complacency.” The roaring climax at the end deeply moved my quiet heart. I am especially drawn to this line:

Let's all spoonfeed on our own delusions.
